GTI Energy and Center for Houston’s Future Welcome Secretary Granholm’s Announcement on Clean Hydrogen Hubs
Center for Houston’s Future and GTI Energy welcome the announcement from U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm that formally launches the DOE process for awarding $7 billion in federal hydrogen hub funding.
The organizations are creating a coalition that will apply for DOE designation as a clean hydrogen regional hub, aiming to accelerate the development of a clean hydrogen ecosystem along the Gulf Coast and across Texas. The region is already the nation’s largest hydrogen producer and home to vast hydrogen and energy resources.
“The realization of our vision will be achieved faster with clean hydrogen hub funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,” said Brett Perlman, CEO of the Center for Houston’s Future. “Core to our vision is supporting a just energy transition and aligns community needs with clean energy. We will engage with environmental and social justice organizations throughout the project.”
Said Dr. Paula A. Gant, President and CEO of GTI Energy, “We have a tremendous opportunity to accelerate the creation of a national clean hydrogen ecosystem, by leveraging federal investments to provide access to clean hydrogen for all parts of our economy, as well as communities around the world. Our deep roots in the energy industry and collaborative approach with public and private partners enable us to advance technologies, deploy integrated solutions at scale, and develop a hydrogen market.”
